Apurva, pls guide if it is a good idea to select preliminary option as well in all the programs so that even if i dont get matched this year, I may have a transitional year position in hand and improve my application for the next match. Is it okay to apply for preliminary and categorical position in the same program? can we leave any program after a year for personal reasons like family , visa ( switching from J1 -h1) etc.

for internal med only try for categ. prelim and trans are actaully more competit imho. u cannot switch from a j1 to h1 under any circumstances. switchin progs is always dicey also very commonly done.. hope that helped
