Hi,
I passed the CSA exam, got the result few days ago.
I went in Atlanta to take the exam last year in October.
The cases were not too hard and if you have experience working with real patients (IMGs) then you should not have too many problems.
I also recommend the online cases from usmleworld; some of their cases may be encountered in the real exam.
I did not practice any cases before the exam but it is recommended because it may help one with time management.

Regards!

Hi,
The cases were not too picky, don't worry about that if you already practice. I did'n go to a Kaplan course but I subscribed for 1 month at usmleworld which is good. Practicing with a friend will be great!

Regards!

I think couple of weeks but I'm not sure. Many times I found myself wondering why reading lots a stuff that I already knew so I skipped a lot of books I initially planed to read and concentrated only on clinical cases from mastering osce and usmleworld.

Hi Prep4usmle:

I wonder how your CSA report looks like...

I just received feedback for PIPE today. There are performance bands just like Step1/2 score report, showing areas of relative strength and weakness in all 3 areas (Data gathering, Communication, Spoken English), compared to others who took PIPE at the same test center. The range goes from Lower Performance to Higher Performance.

Does your CSA report look like this? If so, any idea what kind of performance is required to pass each area? Say, 25%, 50% (average), or about average?

Thanks!

I have only a letter from ECFMG stating that it is an official notification that I passed the CSA and that the program directors should verify the info directly with ECFMG. I don't have a score report like yours. :?

Regards!

my sister has given CS recently so i know u have to pass all areas to pass CS: these areas are Data gathering, Communication, Spoken English and doctor's note. Only doctor's note is the one that is marked by medical doctor. Rest are graded by the actors.

I took my CS 10 days ago. I can't stop thinking in all the questions I forgot to make, and all the things I forgot to register in the patient note. The sole thinking of torturing myself with all the mistakes, impresicions and omisions until I get my results, terrifies me. I did really good with my other steps. I am used to treating patients. I spoke a clear english all the time, and I kept a good bedside manner.

What I am worried about is the actual content of the encounter and, most of all, about my patient notes. I found 15 minutes to be incredibly little to greet, stablish rapport, question, examine, elaborate diagnostic workup, explain, answer questions, and leave. I was nervous, I rushed, and in doing so, I left important information behind.

Is it just me?? or did that happen to everybody?? It would be great to hear from someone who took he Step 2 CS and knows his/her results... unfortunately, that doesn´t seem to be possible, given that they are delaying the release of results.

Hi gballarino

You sure aren't the only one to be worried sick about what you missed out on during the CS.

I gave the exam a week ago in Atlanta and despite being told by a lot of friends that it is just a 'formality' and that 'they pass almost eveyone' I'm scared shitless. Especially so since I read some real horror stories and 3 of my acquiantances flunked Step 2 CS.

Unfortunately the only thing to do is 'chin up' and wait for the results!

All the best to you.
