I think we should complement our efforts to obtain this critical information. I believe there are many advantages to share this info. We will optimize our time and will have the info in hand to spend our money more wisely. Even programs may receive less emails from applicants and maybe they will be in a position to provide better tailored responses. So I suggest the following: Every time we go into a website or receive an email from a PD with the IMG requirements we will copy the info here in a very simple way. This post is only for INTERNAL MEDICINE. (though a similar thing could be done for other specialties in a different post) 1. Name of program: 2. Source of Information: website (maybe include the link)/ email from PC or PD 3. Requirements (cut and paste from website or email) I will start with a couple of programs and hope you will join forces soon. Thanks and best of luck to everyone. ngt

1. University of Tennessee Health Science Center 2. Source: website http://www.utmem.edu/Internal/applicant/img.html 3. You must pass USMLE Step 1, USMLE Step 2(CK), and USMLE Step 2(CS) on the first attempt. We do not require USMLE Step 3 for residency training, and it will not be considered when reviewing your application. You must have a minimum score of 85 on both USMLE Step 1 and Step 2. Scores cannot be combined for an average of 85. You may submit your application without your Step 2(CS) score. However, you must have your score and a valid ECFMG certificate by January 30, 2007. We offer a J1 Visa only. Please do not submit an application to our program if you require a H visa. Graduation from Medical School should be within the last five (5) years. If your graduation date is prior to 2001 you must have worked as a physician in a clinical setting for at least 2 years during the period from 2001 to 2006.

1. Cleveland Clinic Ohio 2. Source: web http://www.clevelandclinic.org/im/res/application.htm 3. (Extract of website) What are the key items your program looks for in an application? We look at board scores, clinical experience, Dean’s letter and other letters of reference, and medical school transcript. What are the USMLE requirements? We look at all scores, but prefer two-digit USMLE scores greater than 85. What are your program’s requirements regarding letters of recommendation? Applicants must provide a Dean’s letter, plus 3 letters of recommendation (at least 2 strong letters of recommendation from Internal Medicine faculty with whom the applicant has worked in a clinical setting). Do you accept International Medical Graduates? Yes, we do accept IMGs and US-IMGs. Do you require a candidate to be ECFMG certified at the time of application? We do not require an applicant to be ECFMG certified at the time of the application or interview. However, the NRMP will not allow an applicant to be ranked without an ECFMG Certificate. Do you sponsor visas? Yes, we sponsor H1B or J1 visas.

1. University of Connecticut Medical Residency Program 2. source: web http://resprog.uchc.edu/md/intermed/app/app.html 3. General guidelines include the following: - USMLE parts 1& 2; passed on first attempt. These scores must be part of the application. Medical School graduation (including required internship) should be within 5 years of residency application. Interviews are conducted from early November through the end of January. Only J-1 visas are available for those candidates who are not permanent residents. The University will NOT sponsor H1b Visas. United States, Canada or United Kingdom clinical experience is desirable, but not required for consideration. Clinical Skills Assessment must be completed prior to January 1. Valid ECFMG certificate for graduates of foreign medical schools. Application deadline is December 1st.

1. Interfaith Medical Center 2.Website http://www.interfaithmedical.com/ltrappl.html 3. We screen our applicants using their USMLE Parts 1 and 2 scores and then consider for interview only those applicants with scores >= 84 on their first exam attempts. However, we cannot interview all candidates who meet these criteria because we receive a large number of qualified applications. You should not apply to our program if you have failed either the USMLE Step 1 or Step 2 exams because your application will not be considered. You can apply even if you have taken only one (or even neither) of the USMLE exams as long as you take the missing USMLE exam(s) in a timely fashion. However, we do not review applications until we receive both your USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 scores. Thus, to be interviewed in time for the NRMP match, you would probably have to complete the USMLE Step 1 and 2 exams by mid-December so the we receive the results in early to mid-January and then if you meet our criteria, we can schedule an interview before we (and you) have to submit our match lists (ROLIC) in mid to late February. On the positive side, we receive these scores in a timely fashion directly from the ECFMG/NBME via ERAS usually within 3-5 weeks after you take the test. Further, since we take residents both in the match and out of the match (both before and after the match), we can take candidates right up to June 30th (depending on their visa status) to start in our residency program on July 1st. Our residents are primarily international medical graduates and we take both men and women without regard to sex, race, or national origin. We do not use the year of an applicant's graduation from medical school in our admission criteria; some of our residents are 50 or older. Significant research experience, published papers, and advanced degrees (Masters or PhD) are weighted positively but are not required for application to our program. We do not require US medical experience but a working knowledge of spoken English is necessary. We have no requirement for a minimum TOEFL score; however, we evaluate your spoken English as part of the interview process. The interview plays a major role in the admission process. Interviews are conducted by two Attending Physicians or by an Attending Physician and a 4th year Chief Resident. All applications and interviews are discussed by our Medical-Education Committee which makes the final decision as to whether to rank an applicant for the NRMP match (or accept an applicant pre-match or post-match). We plan to start interviewing in September or October and will continue to interview through the Fall and Winter. We are looking primarily for applicants with permanent residency ("green card," work authorization, or US citizenship). However, we do take and sponsor significant numbers of applicants for H1 visas. We also sponsor a few applicants for J1 visas on a case-by-case basis. We will be offering positions both pre-match and through the NRMP (the match). The deadline for applications for candidates to be considered for the NRMP match is two weeks before the deadline for submission of your NRMP Ranked Order List. However, the sooner you put in your application, the better the chance you have of being interviewed. Also, we tend to interview candidates as their ERAS applications are completed; thus, the earlier you apply, the sooner you get an interview and the better your chance of acceptance. Lastly, if your application does not reach us in time for us to schedule an interview before the NRMP match deadline for submitting ranked lists, we will not be able to rank you for the NRMP match. Thus, the sooner you apply, the better! If you are interested in applying to Interfaith for residency, you MUST apply via ERAS (Electronic Residency Application System) as this enables us to get all the information we need to screen your application. Please note that USMLE transcripts are REQUIRED in order for your ERAS application to be reviewed. USMLE transcripts can be ordered from the NBME (National Board of Medical Examiners) who will send the transcript to ERAS who then sends it to us as part of your ERAS application. Also, you should submit at least three recommendation letters with your application. If possible, these letters should include letters from the Chairman of the Department of Medicine of your medical school and the Dean of your medical school. ERAS is sponsored by the AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges) and you can get information on ERAS at their WEB site (www.aamc.org). The standard ERAS application contains all the written information we need when it includes recommendation letters, your personal statement, and your USMLE and ECFMG transcripts. You do not need an ECFMG certificate at the time of application but you do need a valid ECFMG certificate in order to either (1) start working as a resident in the hospital or (2) enter the NRMP match. [Note: If NRMP receives notification from the ECFMG that you have completed your exam requirements for certification by the rank order list deadline, you will be included in the Match. However, if you have not received ECFMG certification by the rank order list deadline, NRMP will withdraw you from the Match.] The sooner you take and pass your USMLE Step 3 test, the better. I recommend that you take Step 3 as soon as possible. Once you match (because you need an institution to sponsor you), you can apply for an H-1B visa without having passed the USMLE Step 3 exam but you can't actually receive the visa until you pass the exam. Further, for a fee of $1,000 paid to the US government, you can have your application handled in an expedited fashion (within 2-3 weeks). This year, everyone applying for an H-1B visa after the NRMP match will have to apply for their H-1B visa via this expedited pathway in order to ensure receiving their visa before July 1st and thus be able to start their residency on time.

1. Staten Island University Hospital Program 2. Source web (http://www.siuh.edu/resident/internal%20medicine/questions.htm <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O /> 3. WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS? Eligibility: Eligibility for the residency program is determined on an individual basis. All applications should include: A fully completed ERAS application Official Medical School Transcript Dean’s Letter 3 Letters of Recommendation USMLE and/or COMLEX Scores Prior/Current Research Activities and Publications Personal Statement ECFMG Certification (if applicable)As we review applications periodically, we will notify you by Email to update you on the status of your application and let you know if you will not be granted an interview. DO YOU ACCEPT INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL GRADUATES? Yes. DO YOU OFFER “PREMATCHING?” No, all applicants are required to go through the match. ARE THERE SPECIFIC USMLE/COMLEX SCORE “CUTOFFS?” No, but we generally look for candidates whose scores are at least “average.” For example, a USMLE score of 80 is usually about the average mark for any given year. iS THERE A SPECIFIC GRADUATION YEAR “CUTOFF?” There is no specific cutoff for your graduation year. However, we prefer candidates who have recently (within 2 years) graduated from or are currently in medical school or graduate medical training. Those candidates that have completed medical school or other form of training AND are currently in FULL-TIME clinical practice are also eligible for application. IS USA EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL GRADUTES? No, but it is very favorable to have this experience. A letter of recommendation from the site is required for us to include this in your application. DO OBSERVERSHIPS COUNT TOWARDS USA EXPERIENCE? Yes. DOES A RESEARCH ROTATION COUNT TOWARDS USA EXPERIENCE? No. We are looking for clinical experience. However, research experience is an important factor that we consider. Also, USA experience is NOT a requirement for eligibility. DO YOU SPONSOR J1 and H1b VISAS? Yes.

1. Temple University 2. source web http://www.temple.edu/medicine/departments_centers/clinical_departments/medicine_residency_application.htm 3. Each year, our program has traditionally matched a few highly competitive international medical graduates. Requirements for consideration for an interview include: Application (Electronic Residency Application Services - ERAS) Valid ECFMG certificate (or passing both USMLE Steps I and II, CSA and English exams) Three letters of support Dean's letter Copy of medical school transcript Medical school graduation within 5 years of starting internship USMLE scores of 85 or greater Eligibility for licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Preference will be given to those applicants with clinical experience in the US (any duration), research experience, and/or letters from US faculty We sponsor J1 visa for all candidates. A consideration for H1B visa sponsorship (no cap) is made on an individual basis, depending on the availability of USMLE step 3 results.
All candidates completing these requirements will be considered by the Residency Selection Committee on a competitive basis with graduates of US medical schools.

- Curriculum Vitae USMLE Step 1 and Step 2, if applicable * Valid ECFMG Certificate, if applicable We Sponsor H1 and J1 Visas Hands-on clinical experience is not required to apply but it is highly prefered
* Additional USMLE Information: Internal Medicine interns are required to pass USMLE Step I and Step II (the CK – clinical knowledge portion only) prior to the start of their internship. Presently, the CS (clinical skills) portion of Step II can be taken during the intern year, but please keep in mind that this requirement is currently under review. Therefore, it is advisable to have both sections completed and passed prior to the start of the internship. Please note that it takes about 4-8 weeks for the USMLE Board to release the scores, therefore we advise taking the exam no later than April of the year in which you are starting your internship.

287 views so far, very few contributors, come on let's take minute to share the info. 1. Emory University (atlanta, georgia) 2. Source: web 3.Application Information for International Medical Graduates Thank you for your interest in Emory University's J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency Programs. We do not have any unfilled PGY1, PGY2 or PGY3 positions for 2006-07. The deadline for foreign medical graduates to apply to our program for 2007-08 is November 1, 2006. Applications will be downloaded beginning in September for 2007-08 via ERAS. Emory's program is both rigorous and competitive. Each year we receive more than 3000 applications and interview 10-15% of candidates. We offer approximately 50 three-year positions (Categorical and Primary Care) and approximately 30 one-year positions (Preliminary and Transitional). The Preliminary one-year positions are primarily reserved for applicants matching in Emory’s Neurology and Radiation Oncology residencies. The Transitional one-year positions are primarily reserved for applicants matching in Emory residencies such as (but not limited too) Anesthesiology, Radiology, Ophthalmology and Dermatology. We accept applications through ERAS (http://www.aamc.org/audienceeras.htm) ONLY. Please do not send paper applications or additional paper documents. Interviews are granted on an invitation only basis. International Medical Graduates (IMGs) should visit ECFMG at http://www.ecfmg.org/eras/index.html. IMGs applying to our program should be aware of the following: While we do not require clinical experience in the US (such as an elective, externship or observership) we strongly recommend it as it does make you a more attractive applicant. You must be fully ECFMG certified by the time we submit out rank list in February 2007. Thus, you need to have successfully completed your Step 2CS prior to January 31, 2007 and have a valid ECFMG certificate by February 2007. Emory University currently sponsors J-1 visas. In order for Emory to sponsor an H-1 visa, you must have already completed and passed USMLE Step 1, 2 and 3 by February 15, 2007. In summary, criteria for applications are as follows: * Application through ERAS only, deadline November 1st, 2006, complete application by January 1, 2007. * USMLE Transcript (Step 1, Step 2ck and [Step 2cs or CSA]) * Minimum scores = PASSING (We do not have any particular USMLE score at which we do/do not grant an interview, but obviously those with the best scores have a better chance of getting invited. Thus it is advantageous to have competitive scores) * Two letters of recommendation minimum (one must be from a faculty member of your Department of Medicine) ERAS allows you to submit up to four. * Dean's letter or Dean equivalent letter Interviews are granted on an invitation only basis and take place in November, December and January.
