Kaplan Qbank USMLE

So after reading everyone else's journal, i figured why not write my own! lol

First off, this site is AMAZING. In soo many aspects:

-i realize what i don't know

-it shows me how others reason through questions

-most importantly, it shows me that i'm not the only one studying for this TEST!!!!!!!!

I'm currently living abroad, away from friends & family. And as my name suggests, i am only a young'n. There is no one else studying for the usmle where i am, and so i have to thank ALL of you here for coming on this site, giving your time, to show the rest of us that it is doable and to just keep at it. It's good to see others studying their butts off.

And for all those that have taken their Steps since i first started coming on this site, it's good to see you all passing and doing awesome! I'm not gonna name any names because i don't want to miss anyone...oh what the hell, let's try. Tolito, Study-ing, Mitty, Drvirgo, drpkaur, mjl1717, cedric, robin08---, and MANY more....you guys rock. So motivating.

My lucky day is 3 weeks from now. I've been all over the place...i know, not advisable, but i have a strong background from Medical School, and i'm just intending on fine-tuning my knowledge-base. The last 2 weeks i'm just going to re-inforce the high-yield material, and re-inforce my strong points.

So far i've done:

-Qbook

-First Aid (3 times)

-Review of Path

-Goljan

-Pass program videos (all of them)

-doing Qbank

-doing NMS Qbook

-doing Rapid Review Qbook

-doing BSS

-still need to do the Underground Clinical Vignettes series which has been sitting in my room..(will read them on the plan on my way back home)

All other subjects (Anatomy, Physio, Histo, Embryo, Biochem, Pharm, Micro), i have a really strong background from the MANY hours of tutoring that i did during first 2 years of med school.

As for Beh. Sci...well it will be my downfall. It just never clicks. The ethics, what-would-you-say-to-this-patient...etc. I just don't get it. I'm gonna take the hit. I've given up on it. This forum is helping to see how others reason through those questions, but i will be on my own on test-day.... sad

Scored 224 two weeks ago on NMBE II. Hoping to raise that to 230-240 in the next 2-3 weeks..(otherwise will delay the date of the test)

hmmm...that pretty much sums it up for me.

Cant' wait to get my chance to write on the "Step 1 experience" forum. My turn to give back to everyone here. Hopefully i'll pass though and will have something good to say on that forum! smiling face

Ok back to studying. G'luck everyone.. will post updates and stuff i guess...and of course will be letting off some steam on my journal as it gets closer to my test date smiling face

i think the most productive thing i've done all day is start this journal! lol

Been a slowww day. Only did about 50 Qbank, about 50 BSS...

I hate these days. Tomorrow is another day though. Can only take so much of this studying.

50 q bank questions = atleast 200 facts...and learning to approach several more smiling face

i know stuyding alone can be suffocating..but this forum is a god send...and congrats, uve already joined it. i was pretty slow too but the important thing is retention and understanding. have u done BS kaplan videos. i dont see kaplan in ur list but the Kaplan dvd lecture by dr steve on the principle of ethics wuill answer dozens of those questions...and u do have time. i fnothing else borrow atleast those from a friend and listen.

good luck and happy studying grin
