Has anyone used First Aid for Step 2 to prepare for the step 2 ck exam? How would you rate it for exam preparation?

I used it. I think its ok as a short review to be supplemented by Kaplan. I read FA before I started reading Kaplan and wrote notes into FA during my preparation with Kaplan lecture notes, UW and Q Bank. I read FA and all my written notes during the days just before my exam. I would say FA for Step2 isnt as good as for Step 1 but its useful. There are pretty many questions you can answer with FA for Step 2 but not as many as for Step 1. So I would rate it B+

I think the last edition of FA for CK is much better than both 'Boards & Wards' and 'Crush' (or 'Secrets').

I like the concept of Secrets for Usmle Step 2, but the content is often not very up to date.

I agree FA Ck is a lot better than Crush or any other book. Perfect for last minute review. Specially if you have a lot of notes from kaplan or UW in it.

'Boards & Wards' is on the top list for Step 2. Very comprehensive. Useful for Step 3.

about 2006 edition of Boards & Wards: 'This edition is OK if you can catch all of the several mistakes. THE FOLLOWING CORRECTIONS SHOULD BE MADE: 1. Table 1-33, Bart's is an abnormal hemoglobin composed of 4 gamma chains (not 4 Beta). 2. Table 1-37, IVIG is NOT a treatment for TTP but it IS a treatment for ITP. 3. Table 3-13, a benign tumor of the ovary is a cystadenOMA, NOT a cystadenoCARCINOMA. 4. Table 5-13, Dog bites that are "provoked" are LESS likely to be associated with rabies while unprovoked bites are more associated with rabies. 5. Table 1-15, Squamous cell carcinoma (not small cell as the book claims) is associated with hypercalcemia due to secretion of PTHrp. These mistakes are MAJOR. Who knows how many more there are. . .that I missed. If you can't trust SOME of the information, how can you trust ANY of it?' http://www.amazon.com/Boards-Wards-Review-Practic... what do you think about 'Step-Up to USMLE Step 2', 2005, 1st edition: http://www.amazon.com/Step-Up-USMLE-Step-2/dp/078...

I am probably the only one on the planet who absolutely hates FA... I thought it is too choppy, and flipping back and forth from my "real book" and FA was just more trouble than it's worth. They might as well ahve just made a simple list of the high yield topics. Only my opinion, of course. I know most people swear by FA...
