Hello, I'm a FMG from Panama. I took the step1 on july this year, after 3 months of studing at home, by myself, and failed 175/72. I used the first aid, Hight yield books and Kaplan clinical QBank for step 1. Now I'm trying to find out my mistakes on preparing for the exam and thinking about taking a preparation course. After searching in the internet the courses options I'm interested in the Kaplan and Falcon Physician Review. They all say how good they are and how you will ace the exam if you take them, but I really have no one to ask for his experience in taking this kind of courses and I'm really afraid on spending money and time on a course that won't help me improve my score. I'm also afraid of making a bad decision, not take them and study again on my own a fail. If anyone can give me advice, it will be most appreciate, Thank you.

well i have not given my exam yet but i will give my experience i prepared myself using the videos some more than once with kaplan books and goljan patho book but i was to scared to take the exam so i went for the kaplan live lecture 6 weeks of prep is it not easy sitting down for 8-9 hours a day so when i took the diagnostic exam i scored a 63 and after the course it took the simulated and scored a 58 it went down which really pissed me off even now i am doing usmle world questions i am scoring only 58-60 i had done kaplan q bank before the course and my scores were the same right now i am reviewing the material all over now in hope that it will raise my score but do not expect that after the course that u will be able to pass the best way i feel is that u have to see the videos and the notes beforehand only then u can go to the lectures or u will be lost as i saw many were at the lecture but i feel the big mistakle i made was that i did not review the material in the evening on what we did in class i feel this is the reason of my score so please if u are going to attend the lectures make score u do what i did not do and get 3 month q bank and do 50 questions a day it will really help y reinforce the material and give the exam in 6 weekd after the course also make sure u get goljan and kudrath for physio in your lecture these are the best lectures i feel and davis for pharma was not bad make sure u are getting the good lectures they will be ablke to tell u who will be attending the lectures also last but not least get someone do go physio over with this will really help u with all the material and patho if u have time but physio is a must i wne over endo with a friesnd and score alwyas above 75 in that subject i wish i could say that for the rest of the subjects

i took the kaplan mcat course. i think that it is a waste of my time and money. after all, no matter how good the teachers are, you have to remember what they tell you. and it is hard to sit there 8 hours for a month or so for five days a week. how can you possibly remember everything they have talked about in class.
that is why i am not taking any review courses this time. i hope that i will do good.

Those courses are very expensive the best thing to do is sit in a chair and study

Hello I did passed...thanks God 185/85. I was traveling the very next day after I took the step 1 again, them took I time off....I will always regret not to post my experience, but now I'm back on step 2ck forum...and I will post my experience when I take it
