Hi, I just received my Step 1 result recently, and it is a 213 / 87. I am totally frustrated about this result 'cause I expected a better one. I really don't know how I should feel about it. Is it a worse result when applying for certain residencies ? Hope to hear from you.

i think that 85 is the usual 'high' cut off mark so you should be in good shape. post this query in match forum and you may have better educated answsers. congratulations all the same.

Hi, Many thanx for all your answers. I feel a bit better now because you told me that my result is not too bad. But I am still a bit disappointed. To Shakeel: first I must say that I am a German medical student, so preparing for this exam takes a bit more time. My guideline for preparation was the book "First Aid for the USMLE Step 1". It seems to be quite a small book, but contains a lot of important facts absolutely essential for the exam. And I also tried to answer "Kaplan Question bank" once. In my opinion these are the most important sources for preparation, and you should be well prepared. I got a quite bad result in "Behavioral sciences", because in Germany I didn't have something similar yet, so preparation for this subject was quite frustrating. And it costed me a lot of points, I think. I prepared about half a year with few interruptions because of working and preparing for other examinations at my university. Hope I could help you a bit and good luck in your exams. Once more thanx a lot to you all.\ doczet
