a 30 yr female with a palpable solitary throid nodule. Throid function tests r normal. whats the next step? A) Ultrasound? B) FNA? C) 131 I scan? D) surgery?

Yes...poke it is more like it......why? because basically No one likes to play around with thyroid lesions...... so both an Iodine scan and a sono can never tell u surely if this is malignant or benign......and in 100% of cases they wld go for exison if they turn out to be +ve and FNA if -ve...so why wait...go for the best test Now the question....what if FNA cytology was indeterminate.......what is ur next step?

I131 scan, to check if it's a hot or cold nodule???????? :roll:

Good Try ...... don't take the risk..... Just go for surgery ...... Only when it turns out to be -ve is are the other tests to a certain extent useful....
