those notes may seem rubbish and frankly at times during my prep i felt so too ....but a big bulk of the exam takes points straight out from those notes and tests you on it. altho in a twisted way... ofcourse clinical knowledge can be studied from other far more better books....but if one is searching for a quick focused route to a competitive score, these notes might just be the answer. all said and done, buy those books that hv wellknown editors and wch U are comfortable reading.

Can I have your kaplan's? Where are you at? They are better than Blueprints. Kaplan are great for the second and last reviewing.

Kaplan or not Kaplan - this is a question! I guess if you will read the same stuff 4 or more times (what are actually doing people preparing for the USMLE step 2 CK) even very weak and insufficient resource may be enough to ace the boards - I just wonder why to read a mediocre resource 4 times when you can easily get a good one? of course it depends on many other things also - that's way some people are getting 99 by reading Kaplan 4 times and others are failing step 2 CK after having done the same job.

Btw guys although i dont have much experience in the matter(i havent started prep for usmle yet), going by what i ve heard from my seniors, kaplan notes are meant to be complemented with the kaplan dvds, so i guess you will be finding it all crap if you use it as a standalone thing.....

yes, guys from Kaplan center would be happy if you will buy kaplan dvds as well - by the way, there is online 'Kaplan Qbank for step 2 CK' also - everything what bears the name 'Kaplan' on it is worth buying just because it bears the name 'Kaplan' on it (just a joke)!

hey p53. I always like your ideas. You are also great in answering the medical questions. What do you study for step 2? You know people say kaplan and then they say BUT IM is not enough and you must complete it with CMDT. ob/gy and psych are not good in kaplans and you have to use blueprints instead and pediatrics are boring......I'm just surprised if the guys are influenced by some supernatural force to do kaplans without even thinking because they are kaplans. I did my step 1 without even touching kaplans by one and half times reading my own chosen stuff, No Goljan, No kaplan and NO DVDs either. Their Qbank also a wastage of time and money. I got 92/228 for step 1 but the reason was not, lack of kaplan in my prepration it was because I simply didn't finish my second reading and did not do questions. I never read anything more than twice throughout my life. So I just need some input from people who did great with blueprints and or...in step 2. So I can go for those.

here are excellent 'little textbooks or big reviews' + the best 'short reviews' I do recommend (please, note - this doesn't mean that I have read or I'm going to read all of them): IM - 'Cecil Essentials of Medicine' (and / or CMDT) + 'Step-Up to Medicine' Peds - 'Nelson Essentials of Pediatrics' + 'Blueprints Pediatrics' Ob-Gyn - 'Essentials of Obstetrics and Gynecology', by Hacker, + 'Blueprints Obstetrics and Gynecology' Psychiatry - 'Concise Textbook of Clinical Psychiatry', by Sadock + 'First Aid for the Psychiatry Clerkship', by Stead Surgery - 'The Mont Reid Surgical Handbook' + 'NMS Surgery' Neurology - 'Clinical Neurology', by Aminoff + 'Blueprints Neurology'
