hi everybody,
I think am lost , i want just to now what is the deadline to participate in match 2007???
I finished steps cs and ck and am going to take step 1 at the end of october, what is my chance of participating in match 2007, and what shall i do.. I went through ERAS but it was confusing they mentioned the deadline on ist of december ??? what about after that??
Help me please...........:

hey..here is wat u need to do..correct me ppl if Im wrong nywhere..
u can apply using ERAS..u need a token from ECFMG..it costs around $75 + $50(for sending ur ECFMG transcript)..u will get an AAMC Id with which u can access myERAS..u have to upload ur documents n stuff there...now technically...all programs START downloadin applications from SEP 1st..so you will need to apply from then...
now here is the pickle...some programs download the 1st 1000 applications n say "no more!we will review these n then see more applications"..some program keep downloadin thruout...for the former type..u shud apply by mid-sep to end-sep...for the latter,anytime is good...BUT "YOU" dont know which program is which...very few programs mention it on their website.
so applying late is taking a risk although TECHNICALLY you could keep gettin interviews even into january..n some forum seniors will vouch for that fact...
in my opinion you should apply with CS n CK scores...ur takin a risk but it could pay off...although,seeing that u have step 1 so soon,immersing urself in he process of applying COULD distract u from ur studies...it takes a helluva lotta time to research programs n get their recquirements n all...or you could take the easy way out n go for matcharesident.com...dunno how reliable it is but its worth a look..

I am so thankful for u dr emad , u r very helpful..as I understand I should first look fo a programe then apply for erase.. but what is the fastest an easiest way to search for that?? and what about if i waited tll i got my step1 score is it better ? and what is the deadline for applaying?? is it february?? and how long it take the erase to finish processing my papers?? thank u all and wait for a reply

hey man..
ur question regarding step 1..im not sure..most programs recquire both step 1 n 2 scores..n if you apply early,its probable that ur application will be rejected as it doesnt fulfill their recquirements..
on the other hand,if u apply with step 1 result..u could possibly be a lil late as many programs download a limited amount of applications..
so it is your choice..not an easy one by far..but it still has to be made..although what you could do is that u give ur exam as soon as u think ur prepared enuf & then do the OASIS trick once ur score is reported..wat this will do is that u don have to wait to get the results posted to you..u already know you're pass..
regarding the programs list...you can try the sites i mentioned earlier..www.matcharesident.com...i don know how good it is but if ur short of time,this is the easiest way out..keep in mind,that the best way to make ur list is to make it urself..n not all things that are easy are worth it!!im sorry I cant provide you with much help there..
the deadline is somewhere in feb..but most programs would have already stopped taking applications by then..also it takes a few days(ECFMG says 7 days) to upload documents to ERAS..correct me if Im wrong..
all in all,its bout the choices you wanna take urself..im nobody to tell u what to do n neither is anybody here..make ur choice carefully..khudahafiz..
