How important is a photograph? Is it really optional or do they just say it? Does it affect my application if i dont send a photograph now.... if and when i get interview calls.. i can always submit it then... Any suggestions/opinions?

We can't see a photo until you have been offered an interview. If you don't submit one before an interview, I take pictures of the applicant.

That answers my question. Thanks bbb.

With the latest paranoia going around.. .. doctors wearing religious symbols like sikh with turbans and specially muslim women with head scarves..... do u think it affects the interview or selection process? If an applicant is good on paper and interview... will a head scarf be a hurdle.... may be a PD is thinking very seriously abt two candidates and one wears a head scarf.. is it possible that the other one will be preferred...

lets see some pds are prejudiced (which im sure they are not) - will u stop wearing head scarf or turban in residency? or will u just skip them for the photo and iview?

u are what u are. however its defin not advisable to go in a very traditional national dress for an iview - i dont think a head scarf or turban wud hurt. and if the pds is so ignorant as to consider a doctor as a terrorist - then i think u deserve a better program.

also its us federal law (unless im mistaken) under equal opportunities employers not to discriminate.

Headscarf, turban - not a big deal. Professional dress would be best. If your religious dictate your dress, that's a minor thing to worry about. We have hired woman who didn't wear a head scarf and were hired, women who wore a headscarf and were hired.

We had a man who wore his turban only during his third year, not the first two.

Hardhead - can't answer that. did you have to repeat courses or extend your time? Just be prepared for questions about your transcripts and your answers.

Good luck
