beta 2 receptors stimulate the release of insulin and hence a patient can get hypoglycemia but then if a beta blocker is given to the same patient, why does he develop hypoglycemia instead of hyperglycemia?

what I remeber is that we don't give beta blockers to diabetics , because it will hide the symptoms of hypoglycemia like palpitations therefore it can be dangerous especially in pts whose BS is tightly controlled.

Beta blocker decreases glycogenolysis, which can be a factor of causing hypoglycemia. It delays recovery from hypoglycemia as well. Beta 2 increases glycogenolysis
