Option E (Transferrin) is correct. This patient has iron deficiency anemia and requires iron supplements. Transferrin is a serum protein that transports iron to the tissues. Option A (Albumin) is incorrect. Albumin is not involved in the transport of iron. Option B (Ceruloplasmin) is incorrect. Ceruloplasmin oxidized iron in the serum to Fe3+, which is the form that binds to transferrin. Option C (Ferritin) is incorrect. Ferritin is the protein apoferritin with iron bound to it. It is a storage protein found in the tissues. Option D (Haptoglobin) is incorrect. Haptoglobin is a plasma glycoprotein that binds free (extracorpuscular) hemoglobin preventing it from passing through the glomerulus.

yeah its E bcos the need for iron is immediate & only after the current needs are fulfilled will the body store excess iron as ferritin.
