This is the time This moment sits at the intersection of the best of your past achievements and the best of your future possibilities. What a powerful combination that can be. This moment has already begun. And you can determine how it ends. Look back at what has brought you to this moment and find something for which to be sincerely grateful. Look forward from this moment and find something that will enable you to realize your deepest purpose and fill your world with joy. Then make use of this moment to tie those two things together. Put your richest blessings to work so that they can move you toward your fondest dreams. This is the time to make that connection. This is the time for you to live and to act, to think, to feel, to experience and to move gratefully toward your richest possibilities. The best of what your life has been is alive in this moment, ready to carry you forward. And the best of what's to come is ready to be fulfilled. -- Ralph Marston

How do you know when you are totally ready to make a commitment? I don't know the answer but after being a pasive dreamer for a while, I feel that this is the time to take action and make the personal commitment and go for my goals. I think I got the right tools, a perfect study environment and people that supports me more than ever. So, I think this is the right time to sit and study my ass off with the conviction to pass this exam. Tolito, you have been such an inspiration to me, I used to read your journal and I saw you having your highs and lows, but yet you were able to just hang in there, strong, and now you are enjoying that 'Taste of Success' so, I want to follow your path, hopefully with similar results I made my time table and should be sitting for the exam the latest week of October if my application is accepted with no problems otherwise Nov. So from now on I have aprox 10 weeks or so to make this possible; I have gone through the material at least once; eventhough some topics are like totally unknown for me but I think I will have time to go overall again at least one more time and hopefully that and doing compulsive qbank those tough topics will be in control. My bad news subjects are Biochem, Immuno and Neuro; but these past weeks I have been working on my molecular, some genetics and some metabolism, and my Immunology has improved so much, I am really happy about it, but it's not enough at all. Have you guys heard this song "Proud" from Heather Small, I like this phrase from this song that says "What have you done today to make you feel proud", with God's help and hard work, hopefully I can be proud of every single day, I know it's not easy but heck I will try really hard. My next weeks would go something like this... Micro: 5 days, I really stink with all these bugs Pathology: 12 days, Papi is the ghost voice here 'go for it' but will also check tapes of Kaplan notes Pharma: 8 days, good enough to integrate with other subjects Anato: 9 days, specially Neuro will require all my attention Physio: 10 days, this is my strongest but I want to do an integrated Physio-Patho review Biochem: 5 days, I did this before, but metabolism still stinks Behavioral: 4 days, audios for behavioral everyday at the train will help a lot, Biostat is not a problem since I was always a Geek in math Last 2 weeks should be for just Simulated Exams of 2 and 4 hours, I plan to take 2 real Simulated Exams from Qbank Kaplan and from USMLERX.com; I also plan to do qbank everyday, at least 25qs a day plus read expl. This monday I want to take nbme, just to know where I am sitting at by this moment, will let you guys know about the new qs. OK got to go now, tomorrow i have a forced day off because DH (dear husband) wants to treat me but I am starting afresh from monday and no more days off, except for one afternoon at the ballgame but that's it; I study at kaplan center, got to go there everyday otherwise I lose focus being at home, 'whatever it takes' as DH always says Have a great weekend.

Here, oficially starting my 1st Day Unique 1, thanks for your nice words, hopefully I can keep this energy up everyday, wish you the best too I took nbme format 3 this morning and my results were kind of disapointting but, considering that I haven't gone through all the subjects yet, (after the fast L. Lectures) I think I have some hopes that after 2 months I can improve the score. I got 390 which correlates 190pts in the real exam as they may say, but I have heard that if you want to reach higher than 80, which is my goal, we should go beyond 450 at least, so, facing this reality and getting my ass kicked like this, I plan to make of this, "the time" to start getting serious about this business. It's 1pm now and I am about to start with Micro, I have this whole week to devote to all these bugs, I saw many qs in my test this morning and I was just freaking out. Ok, less words and more action. 50pages a day is my daily goal and at least 20 mcq (+expl). There is a group discussion going on at the k-center so I may join it but had to modify my order of subjects to review but it still in favor of my studies, So we start with Pharm for the current week, need lots of work on this subject

Lilla, I took nbme cause I want to know where am I, and know in advance what are my weakest and strongest subjects, I kinda went over all subjects before during the live L. I got really depressed today after the test but at least I know I am not in good shape so I need to work on this. thanks for cheering me up

Keepgoing, I decided to start with pharm now instead of micro but sure I will have many mnemonics, my friends at kaplan always laugh at my mnemonics, and what is better, they always remember them I took NBME and I am glad I did it cause now I know in what subjects I really suck and which ones are not as bad. Tolito is very nice, she was telling me about how to put my timeframe for a whole review before my exam, she is the best Kooqi, I cant wait to see your new plan of attack for step1, remember , you are a tough kooqi, dont be sad about the past, you have a lot to give, hope to hear from you and of course you can follow my timetable if that helps you, good luck and keep the spirit up ok. Lilla, if you did 2 review and you are still not happy with your scores, I suggest you to take NBME, now is the time when you can fix all those weak points you may have, keep doing qs and read the explanations very careful as everybody who has passed step1 always recommend, wish you good luck I will start also doing qs from today, at least 25/day, since I switch subjects, now I will do pharm. Don't panic ok, you can beat this Lilla. For today: Pharm: Section I (General principles) and 1/2 of section II (Autonomic Pharmacology) ; this is gonna be fun Guys, hang in there and have a very productive day.

thanks Musuq, I am thinking about doing NBME after I finished my third review around sep 15th. Now I am thinking about doing Qbank in seperated subjects( as a studying tool), it would be efficient. before I did it in mixed 50Qs timely. It took me a lot of time to review those Qs from this book to another.

Hey Lilla, QBank, that's a very good idea to review subjects and not getting bored reading the same stuff over and over, doing qs is the best way I think, beside, you get more aware of the important points and high yield stuff. I may follow your technique I did my pharm review as planned, but later on at K. I felt sick and had to go home, i think that chipotle's burrito made me sick I will prepare my own food from now own or just grab my lean cuisine box yuck! but, whatever, no time for gourmet food now jeje, but what i wont do at all is stuffing myself like I did today cause then I got sick and sleepy aghh, no way! cause it goes against my productivity. Good night guys.

Studentstep1, I exactly don't have a 'group' but if you consider a group, the people that will take the test in 2 months and want to use this thread, welcome aboard buddy. I feel so much pressure on my shoulders, DH kind of pushes me a lot and sad news about one of my parents just breaks me off; things are driving me nuts, but coming here and sharing all this struggling with you guys, it helps me a lot. I was talking to my tutor from kaplan today, she saw me very sad walking alone and wanted to talk to me, these people have 6th sense, well she is a lady jeje, I told her about my nbme score and she was checking my report, so she told me to start by my weak points even if the order doesn't make sense, she even made a schedule for me also she suggested to discuss the toughest topics with someone so the concept can stay in my hard drive the thing is that personal problems can hurt us so much and pull us back hard enough to get stuck behind. Oh boy, just breath, I need to recombine my ideas and hopefully come out with the greatest formula and put my pain aside because I can't do anything about it. Hope everybody is feeling better than me, tomorrow is another day and I did my topics of the day while drinking 5 red bulls I am just not in the mood to do my qs of the day cause I am burned out. Hang in there guys.

I haven't been able to do any work this week cause of personal problems. I comend you for going on! Take care Musuq and it's always nice to read your journal. Happy studying!

hi, Musuq, next week, I will start to review my micro & pharm. those two are tought. especially, pharm.I forget it as soon as I finished it. don't feel bad. when I got bad score, I feel to be activated after a short time depression. I have more energy to read again and try to understand those concept which I did not know before. when I know more and have more confident. just do it step by step.

TGIF Hey Guys, Oh, thanks about your inputs, actually I am not upset or sad because my nbme score, that is over, and I know, I just have to focus and study my ass off and eventually I will be ready; I am sad because some diseases can take away the persons you love the most and these sad situations can make us to lose the focus, that's it, but as I said, there is nothing I can do, but pray. I had a day off yesterday with DH, and yes Keepgoing, buddy, I am very lucky to have all these people around me, DH, family, friends, tutors, kaplan etc Ok, as I said TGIF, Thank God is Friday, and not because I am going to drink or stuff like that , I just find the people very happy on fridays jeje ok, so no more sadness or wasting time on something I can not fix, what I can fix or try, is to pass this exam. I see how hard everyone is trying to beat the beast so I can't let myself behind. I may getting nuts here, but, I may follow my tutor's advice about sched, aggh! ok here we go again back to switching TH, I feel like a yo-yo sched but this is my last 'changing mind'. I am going back to Micro for 5 days and then Patho, I know Goljan is not around but Barone is, so I may get some doubts and qs done with this guy who is gonna be around soon. So, if anybody is doing Micro, see you at micro forum ok and million thanks about all your concerns and advice.

Saturday Micro is going slow and steady, hope to catch up the material in the days I have assign for this Don't you feel a little nostalgic on weekends? I mean there were times when weekends were diferent, "fun", family around, but now everything is Step1, I think this is what people call "forget about the world" and focus on your studies. Yup, this is our life now, but it wont be longer if we put our guts on this, so let's get this done. I am doing micro and have posted some NB qs in micro forum, I need lots of pictures and mnemonics for this micro review to work. Hang in there guys and have a great weekend.
