what are the % of programs that require max 5 years since graduation?.if I miss 2007 I will be more that 5 years when i apply for 2008,will this markedly decrease my chances?

well i am already 6 year down the line ...dnt know what will happ??
So guys plz help us and tell us is there 5 year rule .....

i d suggest u e mail to PDs and ask them about this. if they reassure u, u'd be in a better mindset to prepare for ur steps.

well there are ppl who are over 10+ yrs who apply and get spots. relax. more imp is what u did durin the time period.

I'm 6 yrs from grad. I wrote and called to about 100 progs, as apurva advised me. Many of the prog that require a max of 5 yrs just advised me to have some USCE in the next months, as I also lack that. as a result, I deducted that they don't stick on it and consider the whole application. but maybe I'm wrong. I still have more investigation to do in this.

good work, not many IMGs have USCE as urself. It will help if u share ur experience in this area with us. i am 8 yrs since grad. but i did post grad and am doing research now. hopefully wont be looked upon as waste of time. i will also find out from PDs about this.

if u did post grad - then already u can deduct 3yrs from ur yr of grad bcoz many progs use filters to consider yr of postgraduation

well apurva so do u mean to say that PG is counted as graduation and we will be considered as less then 5 years ......(Post grad)...that is a great news ,,,,,,,i hope this is a good news for oldieeee people like me ....

hi mine is a similar situation.i graduated 4 yrs back, planning for 2008 match,by then i will be more than 5yrs out of graduation.but i had done 2yrs of residency in im,but havent completed,and now taking usmle.does incomplete residency also count towards clinical experience?

as i mentioned its program dependant. make sure u call and clarify with the progs in which ur interested in..
