according to Katzung, PTU is way safer than Methimazole that fully crosses the placenta, since it crosses less. but should be used with caution during pregnancy. they usually tapper the dose during pregnancy. but it is true that it is the safest anti-T. drug among the other ones for preg. besides, none of the other options make the baby hypoT. D&E do the opposite. the kid`s got a hypothroidism state.
