surgery any how is difficult. u need very high scores to stand a chance. else its the prelim surgery route which does not provide certainties. so better u study hard, get >95 scores.

Should give a lot of importance to scores if one is applying to Surgery. I have a friend with high 80s scores and 3 yrs UK exp and membership and didn't match last year. Well, I'm not trying to dissuade you. Most Surgery programs expect very good scores from IMGs. This is just my opinion - maybe there are people out there with different experience. GL.

Surgery-rare H visas and rarer(almost none) prematches.

No offence intended. Some factors which do influence your appli are; visa status, residency from home country, western clinical experience, research+publications, <5yrs from grad,USCE,stellar scores and contacts. Again I was not trying to dissuade you. U have not yet taken the steps and so still have scope for stellar scores-most of the rest you already have! Goodluck friend.

Hi hookorcrook... I was reading this treath and after your post i have a question? What do you mean by... residency at your country? Does it mean that if you already completed surgery education at your homeland this might be considered as a plus? Greetings!

yes... and more so if u have some research to complement it. as long as u can demonstrate that your years between the ongoing application process and your graduation were used for some academic/ clinical pursuit, it's gonna be fine.
