hi
best of luck for ur exam. i dont know whether ur gonna read this before or after taking the test. if its b4 - remem to go in with ur chin up and confidence levels oozing. if its after the exam - then u did ok no matter what..
be prepared for a tuffer exam than ur s1. be prepared also for slights knocks to ur confidence when goin thru it. just wanted to share a war story with u:
i gave my s2 in dubai. my dad wanted me2 either fly or let him drive me to dubai. in true james hetfield style i drove off from muscat - alone - on 6am the morning before the exam. got stopped at the border checkpost and they refused to let me enter uae as im on a residential visa. finally lots of calling from my dads boss (whos minister of information) and few hrs later my dad arrived and they let me thru. again i refused to let my dad accompany me2dubai
i reached dubai early even around 4pm. the hotel was nearby the cente and hence leavin my bags there i went to just visit the centre. there they tell me that im not registered to give the exam the next day!! finally after them callin up usa and south africa they realise that i am actually scheduled to give the exam and i breathe easy..
the next day i reach the centre at 0630 for an exam supposed to start at 0800 in hope that they wud let me give it earlier. time goes by and at 0830 they say that they have computer problems and exam is expected to b delayed. i curse my luck and admire the iranians girls who had come to give the gre. at 1000 they say that its not possible to test and that we shud all go back home. this is was the time period when fred was bein updated. dubai takes the exam only 1 day a week and the next available date was 2weeks away. i was scheduled to fly to usa for my csa after 10days and remem u cannot change regions for ur permit once it has been issued. i was near panic..
after much haggling - they finally are able to get their systems online at 1030. they call me in and i am happy as happy can be. but the camera they use for signing in had different ideas. it broke down.. they got a new one and let me start my exam at 1130 - the time when i probably wud have been taking my first big break.
not be undeterred i fought against sleep and stupidity and finally came out of the centre at 1945. i was cocksure i had failed. also it was too late to drive back at night. it was eid. i had checked out of my hotel. there was no room for an affordable price in dubai. i finally found a small place in deira at 2330 and went off to sleep the moment i hit the bed. i had not even called my parents who were sick with worry till the next morn..
the saga doesnt end.. atleast not yet.. the day my score was reported - i had clicked automatic transmission - within 5minutes of my score bein reported i recieved 7 rejections. even small comm programs which had kept my application on hold - rejected me. i thankfully had passed usin the oasis trick - but was no more expecting a bad score - i was prepared for a rock bottom score. i consoled myself sayin that i will fight again next match with some usce or pack my bags and go to a batchmate doctors place in australia and give the amc. we all are fallible and can fail. i took sedatives to sleep for the 2days before i got my report..
i did score well (96/236) inspite of all the melodrama.. and am hence am very sure u will do so also.. dont worry. good days lie ahead..

secret to 95+
2.5 months - read kaplan notes exclusively + kaplan videos
next 1.5 months - 2nd read + qbook + make note of difficult topics like hiv infections
next 1month - exclusively qbank and uworld + make notes of answers u get wrong
next 15days - speed read of every subject in 2days + notes of qs u got qrong + last 2d for difficult topics..
fit in ecfmg cd and kaplan simu as per ur convenience
score around 35 per block of kaplan qbank and qbook, 70%+ in uworld, and 95+ is urs..
remem after test day u will feel very underconfident.. as s2 is tuffer than s1 in terms of tricky ques..
ecgs are usual - afib, vf, vtach, torsades, mi.. history will be major giveaway
and also exam is an hour longer..
i studied for 4.5 months inclusive of shiftin from india to middle east.. im sure if a retard like me can do it - u can do way better..

thanx mates.. had just finished advisin a pal about s2ck and she was petrified.. so thot to share a few things.. i actually miss the mle.. it was huge time killer and much simpler than the match process

Congrats on your score, can you pls tell me when you took your exam? I sat for ck on 27/july yet oasis has not been updated as at now? Is anybody in this situation?

congratulation for ur score u said after u had ur score by the oasis trick seven of ur application were rejected how u applied for residency and u still didnt take step 2 !!can u explain plse

thanx for ur wishes..
deals - i checked if i had passed or not by oasis trick. u can check if ur score has been reported by seeing transmision of new usmle transcript and ecfmg status report on adts which u will use when applyin to programs. within 10min of transcript being transmitted i got a ton of rejections.
cracker - aish car sale 70% mein duniya jeet sakta hai tu.. ur in good shape for 95+. and thats the best form of ur life. u cannot do anymore for a 99. for the difference between a 99 and a 95 is what happens on the day of the exam.. however i suggest since u have 15days - u shud read the kaplans once and read ur notes of uworld diffic questions. do let me know ur score when it comes along..
i cud have matched last yr into a good comm h1 or good uni j1. wanted a good uni h1 so decided to bite the bullet wanted to enjoy a yr of my life and was masochistic enuf to want to do the match season again

Hi apurva. My ecfmg status report and usmle transcript were replaced on adts but when i checked the oasis trick..i failed..isnt the ecfmg status reported only if i pass.Please reply..i am very much depressed

thats a ggrrrreaat score!! I am so surprised by looking at the trouble you faced on the exaam day. How did you get the energy to concentrate in the laast few blocks when everyone else is almost numb...You had the exam start so late and it finished late..You must haave prepaared yourself for the worst and the hardest WOW!
Can you plz advise regarding videos...My exam is in march...I had bought DVDs from a person in india( im in india too) and to my dissappointment many of the lectures are not working aand I see that its too late to order for another set from USA...Im reading kaplan and BP( for obs gyn). I aim for a 95+. plz advise should I buy the DVDS at this stge or do without them.

WOW! Apurva, that's a very insiring story.
Unforunately I don't have that much time on my hands to prepare for ck. I have till Jan 15th to finish, and I'm only almost done with the Crush book. I have the Kaplan's books but am afraid to waste alot of time (I'm a slow reader) and not do enough questions on UW.
What do you advise? Appreciate it in advance.
