Which of the following conditions may lead to development of an exudate within the pleural cavity?

A.) Bacterial pleuritis

B.) Cirrhosis of the liver

C.) CHF

D.) Nephrotic syndrome

E.) Protein-losing enteropathy

it is an exudate (pleural fluid prot:serum protein >0.5, LDH more than 200U)
So it has to be A. Elderly are susceptible to strep pneumo, hospital acquired I guess here.
Others would have caused transudates.

yes exudate..therefore A is correct
