I will have an L2 visa which allows me to apply for an EAD. Can I do my residency on this EAD?? Any body who is familiar of this probably unique situation?

Does EAD let you work? Then you should be okay as long as the institution hires you will let you work on an EAD. How long is this good for? If it's only a year, then what will you do the following year.

it should be ok; I have a friend that uses this visa but every year you have to prolonge your EAD untill you got the GC, probably. It's like any other EAD (the same with people waiting for GC and they already got the EAD)

I have read on websites of some programs that accept EAD for residency but dont sponser H-1.So I guess it is good enough for residency.

Thanks folks. I will check with a lawyer and this was for reassurance.

EAD lets you work and it is renewed every year until GC. While researching programs I have come across EAD as being acceptable. Please check with someone more knowledgeable though and best of luck to you!
