Pulmonary function tests are performed in a normal subject with no lung disease. Tests are performed first with the subject in the standing position, then repeated with the subject in the supine (lying) position. Which lung volume measurement decreases when the subject moves from standing to lying down?

B. Inspiratory reserve volume
C. Residual volume

A.. is the answer...actually in changing from standing to supine position,FRC is reduced becoz gravity is no longer pulling the abdominal contents away from the diaphragm.this decrease in FRC is at mostly at the expense of ERV....ERV decreases in supine position.correct me if i am wrong..
