this patient already has great HTN control, but horrible glycemic control. Needs metformin (only one that can do this). Also benefits other areas already discussed. Hmmm, watch out for this Q. It is poorly written because metformin is only answer that is completely different. USMLE would not make such simple mistake in Q format.
