Dear friends, Does anyone tried Canadian residency? If we pass all steps of USMLE in USA can we get a residency in Canada? Is there any hospital in Canada offer observership or externship? I am a French IMG , can I go and work in Canada? Thanks

USMLE is for the United States, not Canada As for if you can work in Canada, do you have a visa that will allow you to?

To enroll in a Canadian residency program you need the MCC exam. I recently heard that if you pass the USMLE you do not need to take the MCC exam. But I am not 100% sure. What I heard was that USMLE is good for USA, Canada and Australia.

USMLE is good for new zealand too. However you do need to pass NZREX which is the equivalent of USMLE step 2 CS.

you have to be canadian citizen of landed immigrant to be eligible to apply for residency. Rules are gradually relaxing but still too hostile to feel comfortable. There are too many requirements. Generally you need to pass Medical council canada's Evaluation Exam (EE) and Qualifying Exams (1 and 2)(QE). If you have passed both QE1 and 2, in few US states you become eligible for licencing without step3 after certain training requirements of the state. Thats very breif in nutshell. check of mcc.ca and check on Royal college of physicians and surgeons of Canada website. You need to visit individul licencing authorities of each province becasue they vary.

better check this website notcanada.com...theres a tv program there about immigration office seducing highly educated people around the world ending up up as floor sweepers, delivering pizzas..practicing your career is next to impossible... a surgeon was told that his training was no good so he has to take medical school again. this surgeon is certified in his country and operated about 1000 patients. check it out first before going to canada...the land of shattered dreams
