I am a French IMG of Indian origin trying to match for 2007 match.

I would like to have some information.

1) Which hospitals or clinics in chicago area offers observerships or medicine related observerships for IMG ?

2) Which hospitals in Illinois or near by states are IMG friendly?

3)With a low score in step 1 should I give up my American Residency dream?

4) What are the chances of me doing a highly demanded specialty?

Hey Merris,

I do not know specific answers to your first two questions and the best I can suggest is look up links to IMG friend hospital Lists found elsewhere on this site (you just need to search for that thread). I remember seeing some links here but I do not have them right now.

Even a low score might get you a residency. I do know a guy who got into an internal medicine program despite having failed Step 1 once but there are just so many factors- programs credibility and quality being one of the most important.

It would be extremely tough to get into a highly demanded speciality. You really need a miracle (could be a godfather or some such connection) to get into those coveted fields like surgery, radiology.

I would also suggest you to search more in this forum and specifically in this 'Match' section.
