A 42-year- old woman comes to the physician because of 4-day history of pain and swelling of her left wrist. There is no history of trauma. Treatment with ibuprofen has improved her symptoms. shen has type 1 diabetes mellitus well controlled with insulin. Her temperture is 38 0C. Exmanination of the left wrist shows swelling on the dorsal and volar aspects, sligh wormth, erythema, and tenderness to palpation. Range of motion of the wrist is to 45 degrees of flexion and extension and elicits pain. An x-ray of the left wrist shows chondrocalcinosis. Which of the following is the most likely caouse of these fingings?
A.amyloid infiltration of the flexor retinaculum
B. avascular necrosis of the distal radius
C. calcium pyrophosphate arthritis
D. gonococcal tenosynovitis
E. monosodium urate synovitis

C ?? not sure at all. just tried to rule out other options and then make a guess.

I think C too. DM is a risk factor.
Should there be fever though?

(c), calciun pyrophosphate cristals are typical of condrocalcinosis.

Condrocalcinosis is due to calcium pyrophosphate Crystals ( this is Pseudogout )
