A 72 yr old man with no known cardiac history flies from california to NY
3 days after arriving in NY he collapses and is rushed to the emergency dept .the pt is unable to respond to questrions or follow instructions.he dies 3 days later.At autopsy examination of the brain reveals multiple loosely adherent clots within the distal branching arteries of the left middle cerebral artery.which of the following pathological conditions would most likely account for his findings?
