Hello Everybody,
I wrote my exam on June 29, 2006 and just found out I failed today. Score came very late. 166/68.
About the exam I studied on and off for about a year and a half. I am an IMG so had lots to review. I used Kaplan Notes, Golgen Audio and Notes, and Kaplan Q-bank.
I found my exam very difficult, only the last block was fair and one other block was ok others were long questions with many choices esp. Neuroanatomy cross-sections. Oh yeah lots of experimental questions too, rat experiments which i didn't prepare for. I felt I was taking another exam at one point...so many different questions than the ones i had prepared for. Then i saw the note on the USMLE website stating 'necessary modification to the test item pool'. That confirmed my feeling.
My fear is failing again!
I need help please...any advice is appreciated.

Hi it happens to everyone dont get upset because i came across all these things faced many problems so try to accept and start studying , revise kaplan twice ,do goljan again , try to do questions as many as you can and i am sure you will be done with step1 , dont get depressed because there are many factors which affect these type of exams so be confident and take the exam .all the best.bye.

Do not get depressed!! Do not let these negative emotions overcome you!! No one else has the right to decide how high you can go!! You have to be determinant!! You have to show perseverance and strong will on this path!! Aim your goal... stay focused,.. Its important to acquire these things not just to pass these exams but also to fight things in real life... which may be worsen than this one!! So.. be a fighter... and write your destiny!! Good luck!!

Just wanted to say thanks for the positive statements...it does help when people you don't know care about your score and mental health.
I read your post DOC_STEP1, you are one strong person and an inspiration for me, Thanks.
Thanks also to oldkidontheblock and dartikaz for the encouragement.
Just trying to gather my inner strenght for round 2.
Actually the main problem is I had many weakness on the PERFORMANCE PROFILE:
Cardio,
Gen. Principals of Health & Disease
Genetics
Gross Anatomy & Embryo
Micro & Immuno.
Musculo, Skin & Connective tissue
Nervous Sys./Special Senses
Patho.
Pharmacology
I just purchased FIRST AID CASES FOR USMLE STEP 1 how is that book? anyone?
I also bought FIRST AID 2006 online from amazon should get it next week...is it very different than the 2004 that I used for my last prep.
Please suggest any other books you think are high yield...

Never give up.
In you case, do questions and study from their explanations.
Try to discuss and give your ideas in this forum.
Do not be shy and ashamed if you answer incorrectly.
This help you actively think.
