hi,,i m a FMG,,from india,and just has got my step 1 score 4 DAYS,,BACK,ON 7TH AUGUST,I GOT 92/227,,,NOW,,EARLIEST POSSIBLE,,I WILL B APPLYING FOR 2008 MATCH,,SO,,ACTUALLY HAS GOT LOT OF TIME,,FOR MY STEP 2 CK,,AND CS,,
I M ACTUALLY,,PLANNING TO GIVE FIRST STEP 2 CK,,AND GET MY SCORE,,THAN APPLY FOR VISA,,
PLEASE SUGGEST ME,THE PERIOD OR MONTH IN WHICH SHOULD I PLAN TO APPLY FOR VISA,AND BEFORE THAT GIVE MY CK,,
I M ALSO KEEN TO KNOW,WHETHER MUCH HIGH SCORE IN STEP 2 CK ,LIKE 98,99,,WILL EASE OUT THE VISA PROCESS,N CHANCES OF GETTING VISA WILL INCREASE,OR 92,SCORE IS ALSO GOOD?
I HAVE ALSO HEARD ABOUT,,SOME OBSERVERSHIP,,AND RESEARCH WORK DONE BY SOME STUDENTS, IN US,BEFORE GIVING STEP 2 CS,I M NOT SO MUCH AWARED N INFORMED,,ABOUT ALL THAT,,AND IS A SINGLE PERSON IN MY COLLEGE GIVING USMLE,,PLEASE ADVISE ME,,WHAT WILL B BEST FOR ME,,AND SOMETHING ABT,,OBSERVERSHIP,,AND IF ANY CONTRIBUTION IN RESEARCH WORK DONE IN INDIA,,WILL HELP ME THERE?,,I M TOO CURIOUS ABOUT ALL THESE QUESTIONS,,,,,

apply for visa as soon as U can, it may take up to 3 monthes or more,but sometimes 2 weeks
any clinical or reseach work is better to B in USA, but having it outside USA , better than having nothing
just as the british wisdom : half a leaf of bread better than nothing!!!

Hi Rohitrohitsms
You have time on your hand but no time to waste.As suprabood said apply for visa appointment as soon as possible because of appointment delays.Your step 1 score is a good one and you should not have any problem with visa.
Also obsership has no real advantage for visa or CS ,but you can try to get one for the purpose of Letter of Recomendation which will come in handy in getting residency interviews.
Also try not to write in caps.
