I was always thinking ''lucid interval'' is a finding in epidural hematoma, but it is also found in subdural hematoma! So...we can not use it as a pathogonomonic sign for epidural hematoma??!

no. however, for epidural, the lucid interval is brief and coma deepens till patient dies. ( cos cause of bleeding is arterial). while for subdural, cause of bleeding is venous and lucid interval may be longer. the other things to watch out for would probably be the age, alcoholism, and stuff like change in personality which may be better pointers for ch subdural.

and a little surprising detail i came across ..

subdural hematome can be either acute or chronic...(what i had classicaly studied was chronic hematoma)

the way to distinguish clinically btw an acute subdural and epidural hematoma is the mechanism of injury..severity of trauma ( high speed collision) and profound neurological deficit suggest acute subdural.
