Lk = linking number = Tw + Wr

Tw = twist = number of turns of the double helix

Wr = writhe = number of superhelical turns; Wr is positive for positive supercoiling and negative for negative supercoiling

  #9

As far as I understood If you wind clockwise it's positive, and counterclockwise negative supercoil. Otherwise the above supercoils look the same. Am I right?

  #10

If you look at the two twisted coils , they are not the same. The negative coil on the left is twisted counterclockwise and the one on the right is clockwise.
By twisting the right coil clockwise you can add more loops to the coil. but if you do clockwise twisting to left one you will actually unwind it.
you are correct HILFGER.
