hey guys just wanted to give my thoughts on the exam..I took the exam yesterday after about two months of preparation..i used the kaplan videos and usmle world also did first aid(which i thought the book was excellent) after watching the videos i took the nbme and got a 280 I was really discouraging for me but after that i decided to start usmle world and after about three weeks i took the nbme again and got a 400 once again not a great score but quite a bit of improvement from the first one. I had two weeks after the second one and just focused on UW and frist aid. guys the test was long..really really long..the questions in my opinion were much longer than nbme and UW. My exam for some reason was all Peds, pysch..but honestly UW was all you need. guys thier was probably 5 questions from UW on each block that was really nice..the test itself had a mixure of questions that were in extremes of the the spectrum by that i mean you either knew the question right away or had no idea what it was..i did all of the UW and scored about 55. after that i went through and did all the questions again score about 80(of course it was repeat so the score was better) guys UW is the real deal..i swear i was going thru the exam thinking that the people who write the questions for the step were the same people who wrote the exam..well guys that's it..i will be more than happy to answer any question you will..okay guys please pray for me..

thanx a lot!! u think its a good idea to start usmle world right away without going hrough kaplans.. also mow many months did u subscribe for?

i would do kaplan before you subscribe to UW just becuase it gives you a basis of what kind of material you are facing..i had the UW for a month in which i went thru it once and then repeat it again..
i studied the kaplan books but honestly i didn't want to really read all the books..so i just went thru them once and then focused on UW and First aid..i know alot of people do not like the book but i truly enjoyed the book..esp the derm..really nice with the pictures..

Hi guys ..just came from the exam..the onlything wanted to say is im totally agree with rbtalti. just do UW and UW ..TOOK NOTES AND REVIEW..u have no idea how much i was regretful when i saw some questions from UW nd i dident rememeber the answer.That sounded exam was adaptive my first 2 blocks were a lot easier than the rest.pray for me i really dont want to get through this 9 hours again ..feel free and ask me if u have any question.by the way i have some time for usmle world up to end of aug if somebody needs leave me message
