my friend wanna apply for Opthalmology in San Francisco match..
they need internship GME = 1 year as all opthalmology programs
can she apply for his 2nd choice on NBMRE as Gyn/Obs and if he matched the next year in opthalmology he leave his program to the new one? or they need specifically a transitional year?

u cannot just do any yr.. u need a yr or prelim surg / med (not sure) / transitional with a set number of rotations. check out board of ophthal reqs and see if her pgy1 in ob allows her to meet that..
