I'm an IMG.I'm 40 years old.I was an attending neurosurgeon in my homeland.I have been doing postdoctor research at UCSF for 3 years.I'm now a H1B visa holder. My scores of step1,2 are 84/91 respectively.I'm preparing for step3.I dream to be a general surgeon.

I know time is not in my side.I know I'm too old to be a residency.Do you think there are PDs will consider giving me an interview?
Do you think I still have opportunities to be matched In 2005,considering my old age?

I intend to go back my country,if there is no hopefulness to be matched.I really have no ideas.Any advice is welcomed.

Thank you in advance.

hey age is no factor in your situation man. dont even worry bout that. no one is gonna look at that

I wonder whether my scores (step1/step2=84/91) are good enough to get a residency position of general surgery,as an IMG.

Thank you for any advice.

i am interested in surgery also. Not sure if it is reassuring enough - there was a doc from XXX 40 some years old with huge surgical exp not very good english and really not very successful story with usmle i mean 76-80 - he landed on a prelim spot last year somewhere at east coast - dont ask me how but it happened - honest.
i have been going through the sites and found out - if a program has minimum score it is not higher that 85 although i called one program in chicago they asked 230 so check it manually and do not lose your hope
take care
