Sorry to tell you maverick about that, but i would not spend money on this program. It is a very competitive progrma for AMGs. Ha we are the second place people.

That is a very good question maverick. I was wandering too about that. I would say openely that they might try to offer you prematch, but i guess it depends of the program. I am not shure if setting a specific date withut giving you choises and being so earlier in whole process means other then that. But I might be wrong. It all depends of what program you recieved your invitation. What do you think? And if it is a preliminary or categorical.

surgery and prematch - unlikely...a program doesnt have as many seats as in med or peds plus the competition is very high. no idea, will ask them later i guess. thanks for the input.

from SDN: I know nobody asked, but I thought these websites were helpful last year. 1. http://www.facs.org/residencysearch/search/search... ACS website with questionnaires filled out by the program directors, addressing %AOA/fellowships/vacation time/# cases. It's easy to navigate through, and it lets you know what certain programs focus on. However, this is still pretty subjective, and I wouldn't take it all as stone cold facts. This is probably the only website listed that isn't common knowledge. 2. http://www.ama-assn.org/vapp/freida/srch/ This is the most objective resource on the internet, and should probably be a starting ground for most people. 3. Scutwork.com This can be pretty inaccurate, but SOME of the entries are relevant. Be sure to check the date, and who the writer is, as this effects the tone of the review..... 4. Individual program websites.....these can show you where the current residents are from, what the academic focus is on, if there are any good-looking girls in the program, etc. Good luck.

Big names like John Hopkins accept people who are the best in every aspect with Aced USMLE scores, Multile Publications, and strong LOR, even IMGs. one of my friends with double 99, IMG, now is doing radiology in Harvard after working 2 year in Mayo clinic, and publishing several artlices and writing a book chapter. she receivedvery strong LOR from Mayo.

TO QUELL SOME WORRIES AND FRAYED NERVES AND TENSIONS FROM SHARVIL: i knew that i was to do surgery in the states so decided to spare no efforts on my end. my step 1 was 263/99 and my step ck was 268/99 i had no USCE nor any USLORs i had started research, but unfortunately could not have any publications. when i applied i had step 1, ck and cs and certificate in hand. I had applied on 27 october to 100 programs since i had not idea of FMG friendly surgery programs, i was late in applications, i think if i had applied earlier on 1 sept ( i had all my scores on 20 august) i would have got more interviews.....I had applied to both prelim and categorical, P and C at all programs. i have not yet taken step 3. I have a Green card which solved a lot of programs. SO GUYS CHILL, LOT OF TIME LEFT

I got a reply from PD of Johns hopkins. she said that it is difficult for foreign graduates to get a categorical spot in US. She also said that they receive 600 applications fro 6 categorical spots.
