i received rejection email from Spartanburg, SC. I agree with Abraham that every year the chance of getting categorical or even surgical program less for fmg's. Many programs which used to offer J1 are not even offering J1. They say that they had trouble processing visas.

What do u think if we apply only for prelim? I have selected Cat and Prelim both and in that box for PGY2 have written General Surgery. I am going to delete all CATs and leave only Prelim. I think this might increase my chances? Any Input?

previous matched residents here in the forum said it was better to apply to both (categ and prelim). but it seems to be that interviews in surgery are slower than in IM.
