Dear all,
I want to apply for a general surgery residency. Am I correct in assuming that once the USMLE parts 1, 2 and 2CS are cleared, an IMG can begin residency straight after? Or is there a period of internship beforehand?

I applied to 37 programs, I will keep my hopes for the ONE IV. By the way, if they offer you a prematch in one of your IV, and you have to cancel the rest... give them my number... since, as you can see I'm available 24/7  .

i had a funny experience yesterday. i got a letter inviting me to interview. the date was not convenient cos i have an interview on the west coast and the interview was the following day on the east coast, so i asked for another date and they said that was not possible so i accepted verbally all the same and asked for the interview package. i was going to beg my husband to pay $1000 for the ticket. guess what, i got an email within 10mins telling me my spot was filled!!!
anyhow, that showed me there is still hope for those of us still awaiting interviews particularly if you have not received a rejection from some centers.

I saw you had a lot of interviews, but no credentials posted. I searched your post history and found out you got 92/??? on Step1/ 92/228 on Step 2
Please be kind and tell us wheather you're an IMG, if you got any USCE, research, publications, LoRs, prior surgical training in your country if you're an IMG or anything else that helped you getting 9 IVs. Thanks a lot

I think tolito's experience shows how frantic is the competition among FMG for surgery interviews this year. FMG that have visa issues at least.

hey joel,
dude, whats your story man? can't you see the state of the other people on this forum? you, by far, are the IMG with the most interviews.
are you intentionally telling us that you're worried to make us feel worse about this match than we already are? what do you expect to hear from people on this forum who have only a couple of interviews?
you should count yourself lucky and stop bitching
