1)Disinfection- reduction in numbers of potentially pathogenic organisms
Sterilization- total elimination of potentially pathogenic organisms.
ususally done by physical methods-heat ,radiation or gas

Well to add some more points... sterilization destroys or kill even the spores while disinfection doesnot destroy spores.
To test the sterilization of autoclave we use spores of bacterium sterothermophilus and to test the sterilzation of hot air oven we use clostridium tetani spores.

yes,
and autoclaving is 121 degrees Celsius for 15 min
