The vaccination schedule most often used for adults and children has been three intramuscular injections,
the second and third administered 1 and 6 months after the first.
Recombivax HB® has been approved as a two dose schedule for aged 11-15 years. Engerix-B® has also been approved as a four dose accelerated schedule

If the vaccination series is interrupted after the first dose, the second dose should be administered as soon as possible. The second and third doses should be separated by an interval of at least 2 months. If only the third dose is delayed, it should be administered when convenient

i found this thought provoking

stop beta blocker before desensitisation in case adrenaline has to be used for anaphylactic reaction ( following desensitisation).. b blocker will block effect of adrenaline

Hi,
urticaria-caused by mast cell degranulation and histamine release(type 1 hypersensitivity reaction).presents as papular weals, intensely pruritic.most intresting feature i found was dermographism.

morbiliform rash-"measels like"small confluent papules coalasing into unusual shapes.

steven johnson-"erthyma multiforme major" when it affects mucosal surfacs and internal organs.

erthyma multiforme-erthymatous papules and bullae, target like lesion is charaterstic.

erthyma nodusum-inflammatory leison of subcutaneouse fat.erthymatous ,tendr, warm leisons usually on anterior tibia.leisons are indurated and have and apperance of indurated bruise.associated with sarcoidosis, coccidiodomycosis, histoplasmosis, strep infection and tuberculosis. i am not sure wether there is any association with normal pregnancy, please correct me if there is one.

erthyma chronicum migratum-appears at the site of tick bite inlyme disese.red macule that expands slowly to form an annular leison with central clearing.

  #147

i was wondering how do u go about with tetnus vaccination after some body comes in with injury particularly, soiled wounds with rusty nails or somewthing like that............

  #148

thanks for the good link studying.

  #149

how many Hep B shots did the nurse get before the incident?

this is considered a significat exposure, because you already know the soursewas infected, so what to do next depends on the nurse immunologic status:

< 1 dose of hep B vaccine: accelerated course of hepatitis B vaccine plus HBIG x 1.

> 2 doses (anti-hbs unknown): one dose of hepatitis B vaccine followed by second dose one month later

known responder to HB vaccine: booster dose of HB vaccine

known non.responder to hepatitis B vaccine: HBIG x 1, consider booster dose of HB vaccine

PD: kaplan says: DO NOTHING.

THE ANSWER IN THE TEST, DEPENDS ON YOU, AND YOUR CRITERIA.

------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------
i read this in another thread in this forum. I am confused now because i thought if u have documented response to immunization then reassurance is all that is needed .
can u please tell me how to go about with hep b vaccination after needle stick injury from a known hepBsAg positive patient.confusedconfusedconfused

  #150

oh the question to the above answer was .nurse had a needle stick injury from HBsAg positive patient, she received hep B vaccination five years ago. what to do next?
