Hi there,

I´ve been another silent reader of this forum and no words would ever express how thankful I am for all the experience shared from all of you that have posted here.

I took my CK last friday - july 28th - and needless to say, the test was pretty hard. My test truly tested the Pathophysiology of every aspect of medicine and sometimes I just had to figure out which mechanism was dominant in that clinical picture because not only a single fact was operative in that scenario. They did a good job mixing things together in order to get you totally confused. Things that I thought I master looked like a big white cloud sometimes. The easy questions were there every once in a while not to let you feel so stupid.

Long questions had an autosomal dominant mode of inheritance and were every where.

After the test I had a headache and a bachache that were killing me. Nevertheless, I finally could sleep well after six months of a lot of studying. (Used the same books and UW).

When my results arrive, I´ll post my grade and more details about the test itself.

The real reason I´m writing this is to mention my complete saddness about what happened to me in the US consulate when I tried to get the VISA to take CS - scheduled for sept.-

I did a mistake last year. I was in the US preparing for step 1 and I overstayed 40 days (had to come back in march, but came home after step 1 test in early may).

Now, they just won´t let me get another VISA, and so, my efforts were in vain. I can´t get in the US anymore. I cried for more than 2 hours when I arrived home from the US consulate and really just wanted to die.

I think my days with you guys are over. Step 1 (93/229) and step 2 CK (just took it) now belong to the past and my dream has ended here. I once broke the law and there is no room for forgiveness no matter how good you and your intentions are when you are a foreign trying to walk into the US.

If anyone had had the same problem and managed to get over it, please post some advice.

Dont give up so easily.Keep trying, appeal to department of state , appeal through ECFMG, they will understand if you put your case forward nicely.Apply with step 2 score , you should be fine.

Hi Dowit

I am so sorry that you did not get a visa. I dont understand why you overstayed. People who apply from southasia can not afford this kind of behaviour. If you have good reason then apply again with supporting evidence that you did not have any other options. I wonder if you informed the authorities that you are overstaying. For illegal immigrants this is probably ok, but for professionals you have to go by the book.

Hi the_holy_man and Rana Khan,

There is no reason why I overstayed. I simply did not pay attention to the return date and set the date for my step 1 test 1 month later than I should have. So I ended up staying 40 days more than allowed. I came home as soon as i finished the test. i only found out about my visa cancellation when i tried to enter the US to take CS.

thank you for posting. I know i ruined my future doing this. I do wish i could turn back time and not overstay for one single second!!!!
