I have seen that some programs are combined. IM/emergency medecine for exemple. If one gets to it, can he choose to work in an ER or continue a fellowship in gastro?

firstly all combo progs are amg dominated
secondly rarely will give u gastro fship if u have done a combined residency..
but technically speakin yes u can do er only or go onto gastro

my personal opinion is that those progs are pure gold for imgs but impossible to get into. also id rather be a master of 1 trade than a jack of all. think of it - u can spend ur entire life in im and not know it all. ppl do fships in a small specific field and yet may feel ignorant at times. thats why i really am not a fan of combo progs or fp. no offence to any1..
