hii could anyone plz help me with this... does elective c-section reduce transmission of hiv to the infant,is c-sec done routinely 4 all pregnant hiv ,even if there rnt any obs indications for doing c sec??

CS is not done for all patients,only for patients whose CD4 and viral load are not controlled with medications.

if the pt is already on azt , does c-sec reduce transmission

azt reduces from 30 to 8 with cs its 8 to 3 drhyd

really there is not a complete and conclusive study about that. But in real life they perform cesarean section to all HIV positive women, unless she is in active fase with 10cm dilated, head presented and in +2. if you have to choose: choose C section, I´ve seen some researchs from Jackson memorial hospital (miami), and they are prone to c section. but conclusions go along with medical team safety.
