An anxious mother consults about her 18-month-old child because 'She doesn't seem to hear properly'. The child is otherwise well. Examination of the child's ears, nose and throat appears normal, including response to the noise of a rattle. You SHOULD a, reassure the mother and reassess the child in 6 months time b,arrange audiometric assessment c,defer investigation until the child is 3 years of age d,perform tuning fork tests e,perform tympanometry.
