first of all my apologies.. i had my exam 5 days ago and i my broadband had crashed...sorry abt the dealy well here's how i wud rate my blocks 1. easy 2. scary 3. ok 4. ok 5. ok 6. ok 7. ok i think one of my biggest mistakes was that i dint take a minute to take a break before my second block...i think the no one enemy against u in the exam is stress...i wud advise everyone to take a break after their blocks.u dont have to sign outafter each but if u give urself 3 minutes of nerve soothing time in btw blocks it helps secondly i wud advise u take care of the time..i had no problems with the time coz i kept an eye on it.. i had a mental calculation.each block i divided into halves or thirds and roughly aimed for 20 minutes for example i went back to my marked or solved questions after this time...i had 10 minutes to spare by the end of each block...which i devoted to reading over the ones i had still left marked... when i was doing q bank, apart from anatomy which i was extremely weak in, i did all my questions as miscellaneous blocks...i think that helped me a lot as far as handling 2 step integrated questions was concerned.. surprisingly there was a lot of slides and histology involved..there were gross specimens to identify as well as histology ones..also verbal descriptions of histo were given and u had to identify the process or they had given u a scenario / slide and asked u what to expect on histology...i was glad i had done my q bank properly..even on the forum, i had tried to figure out what ALL the options were pointing to in a given question, rather than focusing on just the correct one..

there wasnt a lot of biochem in my paper and genetics was extremely simple..however i believe there is no subject u can ignore coz everybody's experience varies..some have had even loads of anat.. so aim to complete atleast the kaplan part of everything.. please do look over all ur pharma near the exam too...coz a lot of simple questions were asked too...read over the ethical principles of behavorial sciences and the order in which they were important..

Thanks for sharing your experience. Good Luck for a 99 % score what was your Kaplan simulated score? I just read histo from Kaplan plus FA is this enough? should I see all the histodiagram from Webpath . One of my friend said that diagram are just part of Q and most of the time Answer can be figured out from the Q stem.. is this was true in your case? I am left with 20 days and wanted to do Q banks just 10 days before my test and then FA . is this enough? thanks

well star i got a lot of histopatho...i wud suggest doing the q bank questions coz that was a major help in retaining histological features of disease processes...do not delay q bank further..all the stuff in q bank is written in kaplan patho but believe u me, u do not recognise its there till u encounter questions on it i used q bank as a learning tool i wud advise against doing qbank so late...as it is near the exam, u'll be extremely nervous..ull probably expect a high score ( even if u try not thinking about it) cause u'll be close to the exam...why dont u try a few miscellaneous blocks of q bank before deciding to reserve them for the end and instead reserve NBME questions i started in the 70s on q bank (but 50s in an anat subjects which i used as a learning tool before i did fa etc)...gradually my scores improved towards the end... good luck

thanx a lot every body. remember me in your prayers please..if u have listened to goljan audio, then i wud definitely prefer goljan slides. i used webpath only initially...just to learn the basic morphology eg of rbcs ( nice tutorial) and wbcs...however i went thru kaplan patho dvds and the guy really helps u doing the slides so u actually start 'seeing' stuff by the end ( i thought he wasnt that great but for slides, in the end, i have to give him my thanx)...hence i skipped web path.. if u dont have time for webpath, do the slide review at the end of the patho lectures in the dvds to acess how well u know the slides.. goljan says in his lectures that 90% of slides u can answer without knowing the histo..this wasnt true in my case..had i not done the patho dvds and esp the q bank explanations thoroughly i wud have been a mess

im sorry i cant comment about FA...i was never really a fan of that book and find rote memorization difficult...wud rather make up my own mnemonics than learn theirs..i guess it depends on wheter uve been using fa alone or hav ebeen making additions to it as u study
