A 3-year-old boy presented with polydipsia, polyuria, and enuresis of 2 weeks' duration. He also had an unexplained 4-pound weight loss during this period. Dipstick urinalysis was performed, which showed large glucose and ketones. His postprandial glucose at the time of admission was 480 mg/dL.
