please explain how step 2ck is scored.

there are 8 blocks with 46 questions each = 368

does each question equal 1 pont?

is one block thrown out like step 1?

does a 3 digit score of 206 mean you got 206 right?

i took it yesterday and it was long, difficult and almost all block i ran out of time. a lot of geriatric patients with a lot of db and heart disease. medications. this was the most covered topic.

1) Concerning the experimental questions: I don't know of any official word on this. My assumption is that they distributed fairly equally throughout the exam. Doubt they are all grouped, or else a brave person may pick up on this and realize they don't need to waste their time on those questions.

2) The 3-digit score is not a raw score. However, after throwing out experimental questions, it may be a fairly close approximation. The 3-digit score is a scaled score. Recently the mean score has been around 216, with a standard deviation of 24. Thus your score is really just based on how well you did compared to the other test takers. The score is most likely based on your amount of deviation from the mean. If you did well, and score 1 standard deviation above the mean, then your 3-digit score will be the mean plus 1 standard deviation, or 216 + 24 = 240.

3) The 2-digit score is just another scaled score. It is NOT a percentage or a percentile. Personally I feel it is unimportant, and don't pay much consideration to it.

So, everything is just a scaled score. It is unfortunate that the scale they use is close to the number of test questions, which just leads to a lot of unnecessary confusion.

Hope this clears some things up.

please, note that 216 and 24 are mean and SD, respectively, for step 1;
for step 2 CK mean and SD are 220 and 23.
