Hi, guys! Yesterday for the first time I heard about smth called "fifth pathway". What is it? I couldn't find any info about it, but I was explained that I'm probably eligible to apply for 5th pathway, not residency! In my country Internship with rotations in Internal medicine,Surgery, Obgyn and Psychiatry is not a requirement for being certified by Board if You have residency. E.g. I took 3 years of residency in Cardiology, but I didn't have any Internship-and I'm board certified cardiologist back home. Am I really to submit my documents to 5th pathway? Does it mean that residency is not for me? Smb said that my 3 years of Cardiology residency from back home will be counted just as clinical clerckship...Is that so? Where can I get more info about this topic? Please, help!

i really think ur case scenario is pretty complex.. u didnt do a internship or residency in internal medicine and yet got board certified in cardiology! maybe u cud ask ecfmg and if u can get a j1 visa for the same in case ur not a gc.. im not very knowlegable about it.. im sure some1 else on the forum must have more info.. u can still do a residency.. do u have a degree certificate from ur uni? then u just have to clear the steps like every1 else. also u cud do a fellowship straightaway at some unis.. but u wont be able to practice in usa unless u complete the requisite im residency.. i wud call up ecfmg... apurva
