This question is about dear friend of mine who's worried very much because she's planning to submit her ERAS application and then leave for home, India. She won't be able to be back to US due to visa processing etc till mid-January 2007. There's a great chance that she won't be able to attend interviews with PDs.My questions are:
-What months usually interviews are held?
-Can one get residency without attending interview?
-Can one reschedule the interview to a later time?
Would appreciate all responses.

Interviews are traditionally from late October through mid-late January. She is going to miss valuable interview opportunities.

Reschedule? I would love to do that if I could get applicants to actually cancel interviews instead of not showing up that morning. I think I still have a couple of applicants from last season who are still pissed at me for not changing their interviews because I couldn't fit them in.

The dates for interviews vary from program to program but the average is october - january. Some start earlier and some end later. Your friend can go to FREIDA online to get the exact details for each program: http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/category/2997.htm...

As far as I know you cant get a residency without going through the interview process, but when programs call you for an interview they tell you what dates are available and you can select the date that is most convenient for you.

I would suggest that your friend look up the information about individual programs that she wishes to apply to. She can also call up the program coordinators directly while she is here and get all the info she needs.

Hope this helps
