Thanks mjl

Well the 5th one as it is under virology section it is rubella.

And the cause for acute coryza(as per kaplan) is rhinovirus and corona virus. Yes, we can consider measles.

  #5

Does anyone remember this.... I am not sure if it is for coryza or viral diarrhea, but there are 2 viruses based on teh season. Like in spring, it is one and winter the other or something. It must either be in Kaplan notes or Goljan....

  #6

I didn't get you meg.

Based on teh.. can you plz tell me again ?

  #7

i think #7 & #8 should switch places. HIV has antigenic Drift and influence is usually assoicated with antigenic Shift, but it can also Drift.

  #8

yes guesttt, you are right.
What are the other organisms that cause drift? I can think of N. gonorrhea. Does Borrelia also do?

  #9

Meg, i thought antigenic drift is usually assoicate with virus. I am not really sure about bacteria, maybe you can help me out.

  #10

I too think that drift or shift are associated with virology.

Can you give somemore info meg ?

  #11

yes folks,
gonococci, borrelia(that is why you get recurrent fever in recurrentis), trypanosoma are other organisms that keep changing their antigenic coat(antigen variation)
I am not sure of references (I remember learning it during med school), also found it at http://immuneweb.xxmc.edu.cn/guowaippt/Indiana%20...
