Hi everyone,
I have already signed a fellowship contract and I am waiting for the DS 2019 form to request my Visa.
My wife will apply for a J2 Visa and I am wondering how difficult it would be for her to get the visa since she is 24 weeks pregnant.
Anyone knows if it will be a problem, or how to manage this situation^
Thank you for your help.

depends on where ur applying from it shud not generally be difficult for j2 to get approval i donot know if they will worry about letting your wife ito usa since she is 24 weeks pregnant and given if child is born in usa it will become an us citizen.!!!

To get J2 for your wife is not problem, but your situation in terms of pregnancy is special. I think you definitely should have insurance or something like that, and that should not be a problem. They should not worry about the pregnancy, but I would not recommend to tell about this during the interview if they do not ask something similar, as it may complicate some things. and you will be able to handle with that when you are in US.

so J2 is the visa given to spouse of someone who has J1 visa?
how long does it take for J2 visa to B ready?

Depends on the workload at ECFMG for the application, then the timing of an appointment to get a visa.

ecfmg sends a document called ds-2019,when you apply for your ds-2019 you can also apply for your spouse's ds-2019,and usually the process takes about 3-7 days from the date of your application (provided you have all documents in place),the ds-2019 is always sent to the programme, not directly to you,so sending a fedex return envelope will hurry things a bit.(this way ecfmg wil not have to pay the postage and they will hurry on this one).

The programme needs to post that ds-2019 to you and once u have ds-2019 then you go to embassy with other papers and get the visa stamped.

Hope this clears your doubts.
