Anytime you see C-F, Burns, Neutropenia, Diabetes, think Pseudo or Staph.

(In fact Otitis Externa is Most commonly associated with diabetes, and not C-F)

Pallav you're correct Otitis externa is assoc. with water exposure or mechanical exposure eg. cotton applicators usually its a gm - rod like Psuedomonas, Proteus or Aspergillus.

Malignant otitis externa is assoc. with diabetes or immunhocompromised with can evolve into osteomyelitis of the skull base again offfending agent is uually Psuedomonas. As I remember its one of my "SPACE" organisms {not easy tto treat} Serratia, Psuedomonas, Actinobacter, Citrobacter, Enterobacter [Sometimes info on the forum must be confirmed.] An aminoglycoside++/ 0r Cipro is resonable Rx
